THE HAMILTON HAPPENINGS

THE HAMILTON HAPPENINGS

Hamilton Lake was the superb setting for a series of “Happenings”, where local bands set up under the trees and hundreds enjoyed the music on the grass. Musician Phil Knipe remembers the first events were unauthorised, with power obtained by having someone with some sparkie knowledge “shimmying up a post and locking into the juice. Later the council sanctioned them, and supplied a power box – just as well, before somebody got fried.”
