Mini-Woodstock at Taylor Dam 1971

MINI-WOODSTOCK AT TAYLOR DAM

Inspired by the infamous New York music festival a couple of years earlier, the mini- Woodstock at Taylor Dam was much more well behaved. Run by 2ZE over the Xmas holidays, this was a relaxed family festival with a no-booze rule where hundreds of locals chilled out in the hot sun listening to some great tunes from top local bands.

Geoff Robinson remembers it well. He was drummer in popular local band Shang-a-Lang who played that day. Shang-a-lang were regulars at The Grove Tavern during the 70s – as musicians, that is.
